The Emirati young woman, Yusra Mai’youf Al Hattali, was born with motor neuron that led to chronic respiratory failure, participated in Abu Dhabi Art, a global art exhibition that reflects the cultural movement being witnessed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The participation of Yusra in Abu Dhabi Art, which was opened by Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, came after she had received an invitation from Sheikha Mariyam Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to participate in such a huge art event that is held annually in the capital.
Yusra is a good example of courageous and determined girl. A young woman of a strong will, whose critical condition and disability did not prevent her to achieve her aspiration to become a famous artist. She enjoys an unlimited and constant support from the leadership. As Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and the Interior Minister, responded to her request and immediately visited her at the medical center where she receives the medical care, after she had sent to him a letter hoping to meet him closely.
Yusra expressed her thanks and gratitude to the prudent leadership of the UAE, who spare no effort in the support and help of the citizens. She also thanked the teamwork of the ProVita Medical Center, who provided her with on hand care and gave all the support, besides the encouragement to achieve her dreams.
For his part,
Michael Davis, CEO of ProVita Medical Center
in Abu Dhabi, which is the region’s foremost provider of acute, ventilated care in the region providing optimum care to individuals who are ventilator dependent in a home-like setting, praised the strong will of Yusra and her insistence to succeed and overcome the difficulties. “Yusra, in spite of her disability, she enjoys an enlightened mind, a big faithful heart, and her fingers that paint wonderful and creative paintings.” he said.
“She is artistically talented, and this is what encouraged the teamwork in ProVita center to help her to achieve her dream. They helped her to participate in two national art exhibitions since she entered the center, along with helping her to go to school five times a week to complete her studies and get a bachelor’s degree in the arts.” Davis added.
Yusra took part
in the Abu Dhabi Art with a number of wonderful paintings that mirror a real talent. She drew them by her fingers using different painting tools.
The 28-year-old young woman, Yusra, suffers from motor neuron since birth. This caused muscular dystrophy, which has degenerated
her muscles, and led to respiratory failure. She needs to be hooked up to a permanent ventilator. She entered ProVita Medical Center when she was 22, after she stayed in the ICU bedridden for 13 years.
